They appeared out of the darkness the day the last human died.

Creatures of the night feast on unicorn flesh only. Little else is known about them, but rumors and tales speak of them as vicious, bloodthirsty and cruel.
Their coats are always pitch black, and have the ability to apear as a bear, a crow, a wolf or an ermin, as they are shapeshifters.
They seldom hunt during the day, for the darkness of night permits easy prey with the help of their black hides.
Though there are quite a few, and can go weeks without food, when they attack, it is swift and often deadly. Though it is possible to fight back and escape, it is rare that you come out of it without serious injuries.
Often, they hunt alone and use silent and swift methods to trap their prey. Their pelt is always pitch black, no matter what shape they adopt and always have the keenest of senses. Though it is rare to know their names, it is possible to befriend a select few with a better power.
They reside in The Darker Realm, the land and inhabitants alike are feared by many. their numbers grow every day, and there is talk that they are orginizing themselfs into packs, like canines.
the ultimate fear is that the Creatures Of The Night might one day be powerful enough to chalange the unicorns for the earth.
