Carnissals sleek midnight-hued body lay flat as parchment on the cold dead grass, his deadly teeth clenched tight and tail swaying dangerously. the only sound heard was the brush of wolf hide against dry yellowed grass and whistle of the wind blowing through the limbs of dead trees that grow from dirt and water of the darker realm.
He was practicing his hunting skills, for it was dusk, and the time to feast was at hand. thick strings of pearly saliva drip from his muzzle, and, slowly of alarming the small and foolishly brave robin roosting on the sun-bleached rock before him, he sipped the long strands of drool back into his jaws.
all his muscles strained in excitement and anticipation of the pounce ahead, and his limb joints managed to press him farther into the ground.
the robins head lifted from the miniature seeds it was eating in a secret manner in clear alarm, and carnissal stiffened, determined to at least catch the bird.
but, to his relief, the red-breast thingyed its petite scull in another direction, and, seeing nothing, returned to the grass seeds.
Carnissal let out a slow, cautious sigh and watched the bird with an expert eye, awaiting his opportunity.
and it came.
all to soon, the animal heard an irrelevant sound from the opposite direction, and twisted its head to pear into the darkening landscape. Carnissal, being a well practiced and exceptionally good hunter, seized his opportunity.
in one swift heartbeat, his muscles launched him across the short distance between predator and prey, and his nimble body was upon that of the robins.
instinct took over his figure, and his teeth ripped into the animals flesh with obvious greed and hunger. in a few glorious moments his hunger was satisfied, but the bird was only half devoured.

The lone black figure moved through the darkness of the moonless night with expert ease, she bit her lip with sharp canines in anticipation of another kill. Of course her only real reason for hunting was the fact that she had to, otherwise she might perish into oblivion like all the others of her kind. At the moment she was the average size wolf, it was her favorite form and it made her feel normal. Her jet black orbs watched for any sign of her prey, a sudden movement from the left made her jump into an pouncing stance. Her name was Fiery ghost, Fire for short, and to put it simply she wasn't your normal Creature of the Night. No she wasn't cruel, but instead she had emotions, even if she doesn't understand them sometimes. As she waited patiently for her prey to show itself her mind wandered, when a rabbit suddenly hopped out of the bushes she jumped, hissed, and watched the small animal sprint out of her sight. She growled in annoyance, her black fur bristled in her anger. I let another one sneak up on me.... I make a terrible hunter. She sighed, although she didn't need to eat a lot she hadn't eaten in almost two months and her energy was running dangerously low. She layed down upon the Cold ground, but she felt nothing against her belly. She let out a huff of cold air.

Carnissal licked his wet lips in an attempt to get the blood of his face, but to his anoyanace, his tongue could only reach so high. he sighed and prepared the bloody remands of his light feast for traval to his den, where he woul stor it for the morning, when, hopeully, it could be fully apreatiated.
Once he was finished, he placed the limp body of his meal in between his jaws and padded of into the darkness in way which he knew for sure was the way to his den, being an excpert tracker and navigator. the pads on his pitch-black paws crunched the dry blades of feild grass underfoot as he troted onward, his eyes peircing the farmland before him. about a ten yards from his original departure site, he began to glimpse a lighter shade of black, almost grey, moveing in the distance. he figured it must be another creature, and the black brisles of thick wolven hair rose with the possibility of a fight, then fell again when he igure a creatures pelt would be darker than the night, not lighter.
And so he caried on towards both his den an this strange grey figure, ignoring it if at all posible, untill he saw, from the corner of his dreadfully cruel eyes, a flash of white and the unmistakable hiss of a Creature Of The Night.
He froze, muzzle dripping with bird blood. in the silence that followed, he saw the grey figurine lay on the ground. he did quick calculations in his mind, judeing by the sixze of the strange creature and its obvius need for food, he wadjered he could fight and kill if need be, so he took his risk and holered into the night. "and you would be.........?"

Fire jumped a bit at the sudden appearance of the other Creature, Fiery Ghost call me Fire, may I get to know your own own calling? She said in a bit of a monotone. She sat up on her black paws, which seemed to grow a bit at the sight of another one of her kind. She had hopes that he wasn't like the eviler creatures of the night, he didn't seem that bad at least he hadn't attacked her while she was in her weakest state. Her nostrils flared to catch his scent, something she noted that many of her kind did, he too seemed to favor the wolven form over the other forms. She knew that she could, if she wanted, she could be a Bear. Although she only did that one for protection or to scare off some naive creature who thought it could attack or steal from her. She looked a the other creature and waited for his reply.

Carnissal smiled to himself. a female creature, how perfect. he was all alone, being banished from the pack not so very long ago. suddenly, almost mechanical he dropped the dead bird, having to simply open his jaws, covered in partly-dried blood, and the bird dropped to the ground with the thumping sound of a dead body hitting cold dirt.
He made strange sound, like an interested tom cat that just found something worth looking for, just to show her exactly what he thought of her slim frame and delicate features.
His canine nose was just a foot away from her when he spoke, deciding he was going to play the game by his own rules." names carnissal. I'll call you ghost. "
Sstepping forward, her hot breath was on his muzzle as he inhailed her scent, memorizing the unique signature it holds, but only to those who can read it. with sharp, ink-black eyes he examined her body, circling it once as he studied. she was in dire need of a meal, and perhaps a few good nights of solid rest. coming around to her front again, his black bristles of fur brushed momentarily against her, thinner Grey ones. he pretended not to notice and headed strait for his dead bird.
Facing her slim and bony, yet strangely comforting facade, his vocals broke the silence of the night aroma. "you look hungry" he noted, pointing out the obvious.

Fire looked at him with her very empty stomach growling, Er... I kind of make a bad hunter. Very embarrassing seeing as I am supposed to be a great hunter. She sighed in defeat. She looked over at him, her ebony orbs watching him with some curiosity. He seemed to be one of the better Creatures of the Night, or maybe he was just being kind thinking he could use her. She didn't much mind if she got food she was happy with him and he could use her. That sounded selfish but if he was one of the Creatures that used females the least he could do was get her something to eat. She looked at him no one really called her Ghost normally it was Fire.
